What else should I know about Chingiz?
Chingiz Mustafayev was originally born in Moscow, Russia and later moved to Qazax, Azerbaijan when he was just six years old. As a young boy, he started to learn to play the guitar and developed that into creating his own songs. When he was 13, he moved to Baku and later auditioned for the Azerbaijani version of the Idol franchise at 16, going on to win the entire show; turning him into a rising star in the music industry.
Six years after winning Azarbaijan Idol, in 2013 he represented the country at the New Wave competition in Jurmala, Latvia, with the song “Livin ‘La Vida Loca”, where he placed ninth after gaining 109 points. Fast forward three more years and he auditioned for the sixth season of The Voice of Ukraine but only made it as far as the Battle Rounds.
He has released a few singles recently, as he launched as an independent artist, this led him to be internally selected by Azerbaijan to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, with the song “Truth”. The country is hoping to make a comeback to the Grand Final as last year Aisel, with the song “X My Heart”, became their first ever act to not reach the Grand Final since their debut in 2008.
