With a name like FKA Twigs, people are bound to be curious about a person. With a name like FKA Twigs and a relationship with one of the most famous young actors in the world, Robert Pattinson, to brag about, even more people are going to be curious. Sure, he’s past his prime – so it seems. The girls no longer scream and line up to see him and tackle him on the streets now that the Twilight phenomenon has died down and people are more “Peeta or Gale” and “Oooh…50 Shades,” than they are vampire-drooling. It’s probably a good thing since that movie provided him with some of the biggest heartache of his young life when the girl he fell in love with on set decided to cheat with a married man. But now Pattinson has the loving arms of FKA Twigs to keep him comfort at night, but his really die-hard fans want to know more about this girl and whether or not she’s worth his time.
Her Name Isn’t Really FKA
Those aren’t even her initials. Her name is actually Tahliah Debrett Barnett, and FKA Twigs is the name she uses on stage. It actually stands for something else entirely; Formerly Known As. Her parents actually gave her a nice name, so let’s not pre-judge the people she was born to. She began using the FKA when another artist started making noise about the fact she was going by Twigs, which was that artist’s name. So she added the FKA.
She’s a Singer
You might not have heard of her just yet, and that’s because she’s from England (oh, we are so envious of her gorgeous accent) and she’s more famous there than she is here. She’s also part Jamaican, part English and part Spanish, and she was born and raised in Gloucestershire.
She’s a Dancer, Too
Before she became a singer, she was a backup dancer for some of the biggest names in the music industry. There was a time she danced for Jessie J, Ed Sheeran and even Kylie Minogue. She’s even worked with Taio Cruz on some of his music.
