Justin Bieber has written an open letter to his fans following the cancellation of his Purpose World Tour.

The Sorry singer took to Instagram to post the heartfelt message late on Wednesday evening (August 2nd).

There as been much speculation as to why Justin cancelled the remaining dates of his controversial tour, which was set to visit Canada, Japan, Philippines and Indonesia over the next three months.

Some reports suggested Justin was simply tired of being on the road (the Purpose tour launched back in March 2016) whilst TMZ claimed Bieber wanted to refocus his energy and “rededicate his life to Christ”.

Although Justin doesn’t directly address any of those rumours in his letter, he does clearly have a lot to say on the issue.

“Learning and growing hasn’t always been easy but knowing I’m not alone has kept me going.”

“I have let my insecurities get the best of me at times, I let my broken relationships dictate the way I acted toward people and the way I treated them. I let bitterness, jealousy and fear run my life.”

In order to sustain a long term career, Justin explains he decided to put himself first in a bid for a better future.

“Me taking this time right now is me saying I want to be SUSTAINABLE.” Bieber wrote.

“I want my career to be sustainable, but I also want my mind heart and soul to be sustainable. So that I can be the man I want to be, the husband I eventually want to be and the father I want to be.”

Justin’s decision to cancel his tour has divided opinion among his fans and fellow musicians.

John Mayer came out in support of Justin’s support, posting on Twitter “When someone pulls remaining dates of a tour, it means they would have done real damage to themselves if they kept going.”

We've lost so many great artists lately. I give Justin ???? for realizing it was time to call it. You should too. 2/2
