Boston-based indie-pop duo Trisha & Thara unveil their brand-new single, “Too Late Again,” a song about commitment in relationships.
Trisha explains, “It’s a song about people not following through with their previous commitments, being shady and flaky, written from a boy-girl perspective where the girl is wondering what’s going through the guy’s head and giving him multiple chances even with his ongoing excuses. The track is not based on a single personal experience, but complex relationships and friendships a couple of friends have been through.”
Produced by Brad Young of BKY Music in Needham, MA, who has worked with Danny Wood (New Kids on the Block), Marky Mark, and LFO’s Top 5 hit “Summer Girls,” on “Too Late Again,” Trisha & Thara shift the “slow bop” vibe of their previous singles to zesty pop/EDM energy.
Made up of multi-talented siblings, Trisha, who is 16 years old, and Thara, who is 13 years old, the twosome lays down tracks at home and then sends them to Young who waves his magic wand over them.
The duo’s first two offerings, “You Used To Be” and “Regret,” together amassed more than 100,000 streams on Spotify, appeared on numerous playlists and were highlighted on the Women Of Substance Music podcast. “Regret” was a semi-finalist in last year’s International Songwriting Competition.
Unlike many of their peers, Trisha & Thara don’t just post videos on social media outlets like Instagram and TikTok. In 2020, Trisha & Thara opened for Edie Carey’s virtual concerts. They have performed at Faneuil Hall Market Place, Boston Hard Rock Cafe, Loretta’s Last Call, the Stone Church, and Food Trucks of America Festivals throughout New England, as well as performing with the band Synco at more than 20 shows each season.
“Too Late Again” opens on velvety piano tones topped by delicious vocals and glowing harmonies. On the chorus, the tune takes on vibrant layers of effervescing synths, imbuing the harmonics with luscious, radiant textures, while a potent rhythm gives the song crisp oomph.
