Tom Hiddleston made it to the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards last night in London! He was nominated for Best Actor for his star turn in Coriolanus earlier this year. And guess what? HE WON! He beat out Mark Strong and Ben Miles. Dame Helen Mirren presented the award to him. Apparently, Hiddles wasn’t expecting to win so he said something like “I haven’t thought of anything to say so I’m going to take the piss out of Rob,” referring to the MC of the evening, Rob Brydon. Hiddles also thanked everyone involved with the production, saying: “I share this with the whole company, who shared real blood, sweat and tears.”
This is Tommy’s first red-carpet outing in a while – he’s been working a lot, often on back-to-back projects, and he hasn’t been our nerdy dancing bear in a long time. He’s been in Louisiana for more than a month filming I Saw the Light, which I think has probably wrapped by now. Tom lost weight to play Hank Williams, and you can see it in his face in these photos. He doesn’t look gaunt, but he does look tired and in need of carbs. His hair looks really dark too – I’m guessing he dyed it dark brown for Hank Williams? His tuxedo is Alexander McQueen, btw.
Oh, and Tommy posed on the red carpet with Benedict Cumberbatch. Because of course they did that. They’re trying to #BreakTheInternet.
