Toto Wolff, a prominent business executive, was born in Vienna on January 12, 1972. His mother, Joanna Bednarczyk, was a Polish anesthesiologist and physician, while his father, Sven Wolff, sadly passed away from brain cancer when Toto was just 15 years old. 

Growing up in the city, Toto Wolff attended the Lycée Français de Vienne, a distinguished French school. Though he may have had siblings, their names remain unknown. The loss of his father at a young age undoubtedly shaped Toto‘s journey and influenced his future endeavors.

Career

Toto Wolff started his career by diving into the business world, founding investment firms Marchfifteen in ’98 and Marchsixteen in ’04. At first, he focused on tech and internet ventures, but by ’03, he was eyeing up medium-sized industrial and publicly traded companies. 

One of his big moves was snagging a 49% stake in German HWA AG in ’06, which later went public in ’07. This company was key in managing Mercedes-Benz’s Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race program and developed racing gems like the Gullwing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.

Toto Wolff‘s journey in motorsport started back in ’92 in the Austrian Formula Ford Championship, where he raced in both Austrian and German Formula Ford until ’94. He bagged a category win in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in ’94 and grabbed sixth place in the N-GT category of the FIA GT Championship in ’02, scoring one race win. Moving to the Italian GT Championship in ’03, Wolff snagged a win in ’04 alongside Steven Lorenzo Case and teamed up with Karl Wendlinger in the FIA GT Championship.

In ’06, Wolff made waves with a second-place finish in the Austrian Rally Championship and a win at the 2006 Dubai 24-Hour race. He even dabbled in instructing at the Walter Lechner Racing School and set a lap record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a Porsche RSR in ’09. 

In addition, Toto Wolff once held the reins for the Mercedes EQ Formula E Team before its debut, and at the end of the 2021-2022 season, McLaren swooped in to nab some assets from the team.

Toto Wolff tied the knot with Susie Wolff, a former race car driver who now heads up the F1 Academy, after popping the question aboard a boat in Venice. Their journey into wedded bliss began in October 2011, and they’ve made their home in Monaco ever since. 

Their family grew with the arrival of their first son, Benedict Wolff, on April 10, 2017, followed shortly by their second son, Jack Wolff. They also have a daughter named Rosa Wolff.
