Conor McGregor has taken to social media to show off the injury he suffered after recently being knocked off his bike.

On Friday, the Irishman revealed to his fans that he was lucky to be alive after a car driving at ‘full speed’ hit him and knocked him off of the bike he was riding.

McGregor credited a lifetime of training in various martial arts with helping him avoid potentially fatal injuries.

He wrote alongside a picture of his battered bike: “Got a bang of a car just now from behind. A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full spreed straight thru me.

“Thank you God, it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life.”

The 34-year-old documented his interactions with the man that knocked him off his bike, Nick Dooley, who was extremely apologetic and even gave the UFC superstar a lift home.

A few hours later, McGregor took to Instagram to show his 46 million followers the extent of the injuries he suffered in the bike crash.

The MMA legend posted a picture showing a massive scratch that travelled down from his bum to his upper right leg - the post has been deleted from his social media.

While most people in the comment section rushed to send McGregor well wishes or react to the pretty explicit picture he posted, John Kavanagh was more interested in his star pupils comeback fight.

The MMA coach wrote ‘155 or 170’ seemingly suggesting McGregor could still make the lightweight limit despite bulking up during his time away from fighting to prepare to compete in the welterweight division.

Kavanagh recently claimed to be almost certain ‘Notorious’ will return to the octagon in 2023 after being sidelined due to injury since competing at UFC 264 in July 2021.

McGregor has previously claimed he will book a comeback opponent in February after he passed two mandatory United States Anti-Doping tests.

However, he’s recently been linked to a coaching role on The Ultimate Fighter and this could push back his comeback date as the MMA reality show requires participants to commit to a hectic six-week filming schedule.

So, McGregor's return to fighting may be delayed by a few months.
